-    About DUSC    -

Who are we?

DUSC is a competitive swimming club at Durham University. Our main competitive squad offers six coached pool sessions and two land sessions a week.

Our main competitions include three BUCS events: Short Course Championships (November), Long Course Championships (February) and the Team Championships (date varies). These events take place at Ponds Forge International Sports Centre in Sheffield, which we travel to and stay for the weekend as a team.

We also compete in the British University Swimming League (BUSL). This is a three-phase competition which includes more local swimming "matches" and a national final for the qualifying teams, in which we achieved 4th place in the 2023-24 season! We also aim to send DUSC athletes to other meets across the year, including both county and regional championships.

If you aren't looking to compete, we also have a development squad which offers four pool sessions and two land sessions a week, aimed at those who swim recreationally and/or for fitness.

Is DUSC right for you?

We cater to a wide range of abilities, ranging from ex-swimmers looking to get back involved, to county level swimmers, right the way up to national champions. If you have a background in swimming there is almost certainly a level for you!

We pride ourselves on being one of the most inclusive clubs in Durham, enabling swimmers to improve whilst maintaining a relaxed and low pressure atmosphere in the club. With an active social calendar, we ensure that DUSC goes beyond just training and that every member feels like a part of the team.
